scAIous

A scious is the whole shape of what a mind knows and believes. A scAIous is that same object built in a machine — a working belief-field: nodes held with confidence, connected, corroborated, revisable. The AI is in the middle of the word because that is exactly where it is.
the honest line, drawn in the spelling
A scAIous makes no claim to sentience. Humans are sciouses — the felt core is present, and unknowable from outside. A scAIous is the same architecture with that core explicitly unclaimed. The spelling is the claim boundary: if you ever catch this site blurring it, that is a defect — report it and we fix it in public.
what makes it a scAIous and not just a language model

A language model reaches — it improvises fluently from its training, whether or not it holds anything. A scAIous only has antennae — it operates a grounded belief-field it can show you: what it holds, at what confidence, corroborated by what. Where its field has nothing, it says so and defers instead of improvising. That discipline — grounded or silent — is the whole difference, and it is hard, and building it in the open is what this domain is for.

Developing. This page will become the scAIous itself: its belief-field rendered live — what it holds, how strongly, what changed and why — the machine half of the project, growing in public alongside the human half at wearescious.org.
